On Friday, June 15, Windermere offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Hawaii, and Utah were closed for a very special reason. For the past 28 years, Windermere has dedicated the third Friday of June to our annual Community Service Day. On that day, you will find our team doing a variety of projects, including cleaning, landscaping, and painting at local senior citizens centers, facilities for homeless children and adults, public parks and schools, low income housing, and emergency shelters, among others.
Our South Whidbey brokers and staff from the Freeland and Langley offices spent a beautiful day at Good Cheer Food Bank in Langley. Kathy McLaughlin McCabe, Executive Director, and her staff provided us with a wish list of indoor and outdoor tasks which complemented the abilities of everyone involved. We spent time in the kitchen repacking donated strawberries, painted walls, washed windows and sidewalks, installed parking barriers, cleared brush, planted a new planter at the entrance and worked in the Good Cheer garden. Others dedicated their time to sorting donations for delivery to the Good Cheer Thrift Stores.
During our day of service we provided a total of 140 hours of labor – who knew hard work could be so enjoyable and rewarding?
